Centrex 1000

Centrex 1000 series units are designed primarily for light to medium seasonal use where the compost drum has the capacity to hold all the compost for a full season. This means that compost will normally only need to be removed annually at the beginning of the following season.

The Centrex 1000 is available in either electric or non-electric versions. Both are designed for use with a 1 pint toilet (purchased separately), but the Centrex 1000 series is not available for use with dry toilets. As with other Central units the Centrex 1000 units features a waste inlet door on the left of the drum (facing the unit) and a separate output door on the right. Compost is extracted by releasing the drum lock, rotating the drum backwards, and dropping compost into the finishing drawer at the bottom right of the unit. The unit is supplied with a 25mm drain hose which should be connected to the 25mm drain at the bottom left of the unit.

The versions of this model:

If you have continuous 220volt electricity, choose an electric composting unit. These units come with a 50mm vent stack and plug into a three pin electric outlet to power the fan and thermostatically controlled base heater. Electric units should be unplugged if they are not used for 10 days or more.

If you do not have continuous 220volt electricity, select a non-electric unit. These units have a 100mm vent stack which exits from the top of the composting unit, and acts like a chimney on a wood stove.

If you expect to have 220volt electricity in the future, or are running a generator for 8 - 12 hours per day, you can choose a dual vented AC/DC model.

CENTREX 1000

The CENTREX 1000 is a low profile, front serviceable, electric composting unit. It is designed for use with a 1 pint toilet (purchased separately).

At only 700mm high, this unit is ideal for installation under, or to the side of buildings where height is important and the unit is to be vented up a side wall. If the CENTREX 1000 is exposed, electrical components should be protected from rain and flooding.

The CENTREX 1000 evaporating performance of up to 2 gallons per day may not be sufficient to evaporate all the liquid, so the drain hose should be connected.

Composting Capacity:
Residential & Continuous 3/4
Weekend & Vacation 5/7

CENTREX 1000 NE

The non-electric version of the CENTREX 1000, has for some time provided an excellent solution for those with no continuous 220 Volt power.
The CENTREX 1000 NE has no fan or heating element, so odorless operation is achieved by a larger 100mm vent which exits from the front. An optional 12 Volt fan can be installed if the unit is to be used heavily or residentially or is in a place which is subject to down drafting because it is surrounded by mountains or tall trees.
This 1.4Watt fan can be powered by a solar panel (5.5 Watts) and/or 12 Volt battery. It is supplied in a 275mm length of 100mm pipe for installation in the vent stack.
The Centrex 1000 NE is slightly lower and shallower than the Centrex 1000, otherwise all installation considerations are the same.

Composting Capacity:
Residential & Continuous 2/3
Weekend & Vacation 4/6

CENTREX 1000 AC/DC

The CENTREX 1000 AC/DC is a standard CENTREX 1000 except that it is Supplied with dual vent stacks.
While 220 Volt power is available the unit behaves like a CENTREX 1000, and the fan pulls air into the unit and up the 50mm vent stack. When there is no 220 Volt electricity, the AC/DC has a 100mm vent stack, and operates like the CENTREX 1000 NE.
An optional 1.4 Watt 12 Volt fan can be supplied for installation inside the 100mm vent stack. This fan improves air movement and evaporation, and can be powered by a solar panel and / or 12 Volt battery.

Composting Capacity:
Various depending on power source used
